Hot Taughty:

A Way to Warm up During These Cool Surfing Months

At least a shot of whiskey
Honey to taste
Ground Cinnamon
Lemon
Hot Water

Probably the first drink I ever had, this remedy is sure to warm you up after a cold day in any cove. Let's face it, wet suits are great, but once you get out of the water it sucks being wet (unless we are talking about amorous activity here he he he).

As far as I know there is no specific recipe for a Hot Taughy--I don't even know the correct spelling. My father used to make them for me as a child (the drink will still warm you without the whiskey) when I was sick--but this is much more than a comfort drink, and it's simple. Add honey, whiskey, cinnamon, and lemon/lime juice if desired to hot water and stir until honey is dissolved. In a typical coffee mug I would use at least a shot of whiskey, at least a tablespoon of honey and multiple shakes of cinnamon--but really this drink has to be made to personal taste. The more whiskey the warmer you'll feel, and the better you'll sleep. Enjoy.
